Each February, Aurora has many family winter activities in the Aurora Town Park to allow families to have fun during Family Day. The first pet cemetery is located in Aurora. Even though it is now abandoned, it is still a place to get spooked at during the Haunted Forest event at Sheppards Bush. The move Cheaper by the Dozen 2 featured St. Andrews College. A 6-time medalist of the Canadian Championships, Brian Stemmle, was born in Aurora. Brian is a cross country skier. Sheppard’s Bush Conservation Area is a great place to cross country ski at because there are over 3km of trails to go through.
When you are in Aurora, it is noticed that their longest street is Yonge Street. This street will go from the Toronto Harbor front to Cook’s Bay. During October, people dress in their best for the Hillary House National Historic House’s Black and White Ball. Hillary House is open from May to September, but private off-season tours are available. The Aurora Arboretum has a 200-year-old tree. The tree is a Bur Oak, and it is over 85 feet tall, and it is just one species of trees, flowers, and wildlife that can be found here. In 1958, Theater Aurora opened, and the first play was Tovarich. Now the theater only has five performances each year. Robert Thomas, a Stanley Cup winner and Forward of the St. Louis Blues, brought the Stanley Cup to Aurora, his home in 2019. They also have a sports hall of fame that is a tourist treat.
